Sketchnotes are fun!
What are Sketchnotes?
Mike Rohde came up with this term in 2011 publishing The Sketchnote Handbook. He explains it this way:
“Sketchnotes are rich visual notes created from a mix of handwriting, drawings, hand-lettering, shapes, and visual elements like arrows, boxes, and lines. They don’t require special drawing skills, but do require you to listen and visually synthesize and summarize ideas by using writing and drawing.”

Like any other skill, all of these parts that go into Sketchnoting have to be practiced. Some parts come easier to us than others. Having a place to collaborate, get tips on how other people’s approaches are and try out new ways of doing things – that is Sketchnote Connect!
The mission of Sketchnote Connect is to connect sketchnoters with different skill levels, interests and experiences from around the world to learn from each other, encourage and support each other and feel welcome in the International Sketchnote Community.

HOW IS THIS MISSION TRANSLATED IN THE EVENT?
- There will be a lot of conversation time dedicated to get to meet people.
- Everyone is welcome to share what they know, ask questions & do spontaneous practice sessions.
- Beginners can learn from more experienced sketchnoters.
- No need to book & pay for travel since we are meeting online.
- We don’t start super early so that people from different time zones can participate.
- Different price levels make sure that the circle of people is as big as possible.
For me, there is no right or wrong way to create Sketchnotes. Everyone has their different way: with more drawings or more text, using black fine liners or thick brush pens, colorful or black and white, analog or digital. That is what makes this way of creating notes and this community so wonderful!
STRUCTURE
A barcamp structure offers the opportunity for people to create their own sessions and schedules.
Every participant can ask for and offer a session. That does not mean you have to give a presentation- just tell it like you would tell a friend. Because psst, you might very well end up having more of those afterwards đ
